Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-hwa held
a phone call at the request of
Foreign Minister Kenya
“Raychelle Omamo” on the afternoon of Monday,
June 15, and exchanged opinions
on Corona 19 response.
◦ In the course of responding to
the difficulties caused by Corona 19,
the Minister and the Secretary can reaffirm
close bilateral relations through
our humanitarian assistance such
as diagnostic kits and masks for Kenya
and examples of Kenyan cooperation
to support our citizens returning home.

“Thanks to the Korean government
and the private sector for providing timely
support to quarantine supplies such as
the Corona 19 diagnostic kit to Kenya,” he said.

Corona 19 response experiences.
It has helped Kenya in responding to Corona 19.”
◦ Minister Kang explained,
“We will continue to support African countries
including Kenya through bilateral humanitarian
assistance and sharing experiences such
as hosting a K-defense web seminar
to overcome Corona 19.”
Minister Omamo said that the Kenyan
government is implementing social control
measures to prevent the spread of corona19.
He explained that he continued to
operate school and commercial facilities.
The Minister and the Secretary agreed to continue
cooperating with international organizations
such as the United Nations in the future
for the complete end of Corona 19 and health
cooperation.
Kenya was launched by the Korean
government and is a member of
the World Health Education
Friendship Group (5.26.)
for UNESCO solidarity and inclusion.
Participation as a member country
Minister Kang also said, “With the Corona 19,
our people could safely return to
Korea thanks to the quick
and active cooperation of the Kenyan government
even in a difficult situation.” I asked for attention.
The Minister and the Secretary attended
the video conference of the Minister of
Foreign Affairs of Women held in April and
discussed ways to enhance women’s roles and
strengthen their capabilities in the Corona 19
response process. Through this call,
bilateral and multilateral
cooperation to respond to Corona 19

코로나19 대응에 대한 의견을 교환하였습니다.
양 장관은 코로나19로 인한 어려움에 대응해
나가는 과정에서
케냐에 대한 진단키트·마스크 등 우리의 인도적 지원
우리 국민들의 귀국 지원을 위한 케냐의 협조
사례 등을 통해 긴밀한 양국 관계를 재확인할
수 있었다고 평가하였습니다.
오마모 장관은“한국 정부와 민간에서 케냐에
코로나19 진단키트 등 방역물자를 적시에 지원해
준 데 대해 감사하다”라고 하면서, “이뿐만 아니라
한국이 성공적이고 전문적인 코로나19
대응 경험을 공유해 주어서 케냐의 코로나19
대응에 많은 도움이 되고 있다”라고 하였습니다.
강 장관은“케냐를 포함한 아프리카
국가들이 코로나19를 극복할 수 있도록
양자 차원의 인도적 지원 및 K-방역 웹세미나
개최 등의 경험 공유를 통해 지원해 나갈 예정이다”
라고 설명했습니다.
오마모 장관은 케냐 정부는 코로나19
확산 방지를 위한 사회통제 조치를 시행하고
있다면서 학교 개학 등 한국의 코로나19 상황속
일상 복귀 현황을 문의했으며,
강 장관은 한국은 철저한 감염자 추적 및 위생
수칙을 준수하면서 등교 및 상업시설
운영을 지속해나가고 있다고 설명했습니다.
양 장관은 코로나19의 완전한 종식과 보건 협력을
위해 앞으로 유엔 등의 국제기구에서
지속적으로 협력해
나가기로 하였습니다.

유엔 보건안보 관련 우호그룹( 5.12.)
WHO 감염병 대응 관련 지지그룹(5.20.)
UNESCO 연대와 포용을 위한 세계시민교육
우호그룹(5.26.)에
모두 회원국으로 참여
강 장관은 또한“코로나19로 인해 이동이
어려운 상황에서도 케냐 정부가 신속하고 적극적으로
협조해 준 덕분에 우리 국민들이 무사히
귀국할 수 있었다”고
하며 케냐내 우리 국민들의 안전에 대한
오마모 장관의 관심을 당부했습니다.
양 장관은 지난 4월 개최된 여성외교장관
화상회의에
참석하여 코로나19 대응 과정에서 여성의
역할 제고 및 역량 강화 방안에 대해 논의하였으며,
이번 통화를 통해 코로나19 대응을 위한 양·다자 차원의
협력을 지속해 나가기로 하였습니다.
